Rain

ask the Lord for rain in the springtime; it is the Lord who makes the storm clouds. He gives showers of rain to men, and plants of the field to everyone. Zech 10:1

it's amazing how much a gardener relies on rain, it's so essential for new growth.
praying again today for rain.

I stopped by yesterday and checked on the Franklin Park plot. The pea's are about an inch tall, and I see some of the Rocky Top Lettuce mix sprouting (speckles of green on a brown canvas).

if you cant laugh at yourself.... we had an interesting adventure on Sat.
Kurtz brothers donated topsoil and leaf compost to garden projects for earth day (thank you!) the Garden Club community garden is one of them (we'll be out at 3 pm, btw).
a friend let me borrow his smaller pick up truck to go pick up the soil. we get there and realize its all loose, bulk soil. they used a front loader to dump loose soil and compost into his truck. two girls, standing, watching, in surprise, and a little afraid (the bed sank down under the weight of the soil). all the huge landscaping truck driving past, smiles and glances our way.
yes, we had no idea what we were getting into. but, it was a successful venture. and we received one cubic yard (a truck full) of free soil and compost, and delivered it to the garden.
